The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has a huge job to do and sometimes needs extra hands to help. Often there is a call that goes out for volunteers. The need stretches for anything from rescuing stranded salmon from a drying stream or sturgeon trapped in shallow river water to restoring fish and wildlife habitat at a pond or creek. Whatever the job, whether a long-term development or an emergency call for action, conservation projects improve the state's wildlife and wild lands and are best served with the extra help offered by volunteers.
